Sports remains Veritable Tool For Nigeria’s Unity Cohesion- Benjamins-Laniyi

A seasoned entrepreneur, a benevolent, Mrs Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi whose her different intitiaves in the country has impacted many women and the girl child has expressed that that round leather game, football remain a veritable tool to engender the unity and cohesion that need to be nurture.
To this end, She urges all Nigerian to make use of sports to promote unity, peace of the most populous back race.
FCT Senatorial Aspirant in the 2023 general election, stated this on Wednesday in Abuja during the press briefing on the sidelines of the inaugural Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi (ABL) FCT unity football championship.
The tournament, ABL FCT Unity football championship.started on July 8th of July and will climax on Saturday 29th July 2023 has over 1,200 young footballers, with 80 teams in the six area councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) was meant to foster unity and discover grassroot talents for the national teams.
Speaking at the event, the initiator of ABLunity football championship Mrs Laniyi said: “This initiative, the Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi sports tournament is an expression of premium sports for unity and indeed propelling our Nigerian youth through grassroots representation in the six area councils of the FCT.
“We are here to make a statement that we can achieve unity through sports and build a new prosperous nation.”
She however, pledged to continue to working with the the FCT sports council and other relevant stakeholders to promote sports and empower Nigerian youths
“I rise as a mother, a media entrepreneur, a politician, as a patriot to make a call for unity through sports.
“What makes a nation stand is unity, so we should rise above tribe, religion and race,” she said.
In his remark, the Director of FCT Sports Council,Luka Istifanus applauded the organiser of the competition for the laudable initiative.

Nigeria Customs Service Embarks on Training Tour

As part of preparations for the 2025 African Women’s Club Championship, the Nigeria Customs Service women’s volleyball team has embarked on a training tour in Benin Republic.
The tournament is scheduled to take place from April 1 to 14 in Abuja, Nigeria.
The team departed for Benin Republic on Wednesday.
The Sports Secretary of the Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, appreciated the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team for approving the training tour.
He emphasised that the tour would allow the players and coaching crew to assess their level of preparedness for the upcoming championship.
Onikeku expressed confidence in the team’s potential to make a strong impression at the tournament, citing the support received from the Federal Government of Nigeria, particularly through the First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON.
He said, “The volleyball team has traveled to Benin Republic for a 10-day training tour. The players have been in camp since February, and this tour will provide them with an opportunity to compete against teams outside the country.
“I want to appreciate the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi MFR, and his management team for approving this training tour.
“During the training tour, Nigeria Customs Service will take on strong opponents from Benin Republic, Ghana and Togo.
“The support we received from Nigeria’s First Lady, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu CON, has been tremendous, and the team is committed to making the country proud.”
He said the service is determined to better their position after finishing fourth place in 2021.
