Super Falcons Performance At The World Cup: An Advertisment For Corporate Bodies To Sponsor Women Football

One of the most Challenging job of the Nigeria Football Federation is attracting Sponsorship for the Women’s game.

But the Country’s Women Football is beginning to fight for itself without getting what used to be a sympathy support from the Corporate bodies.

The Nigeria Super Falcons became the toast of the entire World with their showing in Australia where they narrowly got knocked out    by  European Champions England on Penalties.

The team against all odds navigated by a tough group of Co Host Australia , Canada and Ireland with some eye catching Performances.

They held one of the World’s top ten ranked teams Canada in their first game before silencing host Country Australia in their second game in a 3-2 win to convincingly announce themselves at the Global stage.

The team became the talk of everyone at the World Cup and they did not fail to disappoint in their round of sixteen tie against England.

The English Lionesses were given a major scare against the Nigerian Ladies as they were matched for the entire duration of ninety minutes with extra time.

As the popular saying goes , Penalties is anybody’s game and the Falcons ended on the wrong side of the spot kicks, losing 4-2.

This was how close the Nigerian Ladies were to a  Quarter final ticket at the World Cup.

But the message has been clearly passed by the Nigerian Ladies that the women’s game deserves all the support from both the federal government and the corporate world.

Infact the Performance of girls further showed that corporate Nigeria has all to gain if they invest in the Women’s game.

The Nigeria Football Federation cannot do the job alone to leverage on the success of the Falcons at the World Cup without serious support from Corporate Nigeria.

This is the right time for Nigeria Women Football to stand on its own in terms of Corporate partnership.

The mileage and opportunities are there for as many Corporate bodies that will come support the Women’s game.

Nigeria cannot afford to lower the standard that has been set in Australia and New Zealand and this means the Nigeria Top flight Women league must be boosted financially.

This will enable Nigeria to be able to produce more quality female players and further increase the number of Nigeria Women players scatter across European clubs.

President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has called on Nigerian families to adopt healthy living habits through regular participation in sporting and fitness activities.

Nimrod made the call on Sunday during the third edition of the Hoba Development Association, Abuja Chapter, novelty sports event held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.

He noted that physical activities such as sports are vital to fostering family bonds, community interaction, and overall well-being.

“The rate of health-related incidents such as slumping is increasing, but regular exercise helps improve the health of both parents and children,” he said. “Events like this bring families together, allowing parents and children to interact and know each other better.”

Also speaking, the stand-in Chairman of the Hoba Community, Barrister Nathan Naandeti, highlighted the significance of the annual novelty games, describing them as a unifying platform for members of the community.

“It’s something we do every year to promote unity, togetherness, and fitness among our people. Sports is part of who we are,” he stated.

Men, women, and children from the Hoba community participated in various sporting activities, including volleyball, badminton, football, and aerobics—all aimed at encouraging relaxation, fitness, and bonding among families.
