Teams confirm arrival dates as BetKing 3X3 Wheelchair Basketball Tournament begins in Abeokuta

As the Countdown to the 3X3 BetKing wheelchair Basketball Tournament billed for Ijeja in Abeokuta, Ogun state draws closer, teams have continued to confirm their readiness for the highly anticipated tournament.
The Board of the Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, NWBF, said ten out of the fifteen expected teams have confirmed their arrival dates.
The tournament which holds from April 3 to 7 2025 is one of the biggest Elite Wheelchair Championships in the calendar of the NWBF.
The NWBF said it expects a high level of competition and standard of play from all the teams because the tournament is expected to bring together the very best of the country’s top wheelchair players across the Country.
Organisers say a top level Technical Team has been put together to select outstanding players that will be invited to the National camp ahead of the Commonwealth Games qualifiers in South Africa later in the year.
President of the NWBF Seyi Johnson, said this is the reason why his board is putting everything in place to organise a world class tournament.
” This is one of our flagship tournaments for the year and from an organisation point of view we are determined to put our best foot forward to ensure a good tournament, worthy of the support we are getting from our sponsors, BetKing”.
” We urged more corporate bodies to partner with us to drive the growth of Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball”, he concluded.

In a warm gesture of unity, oneness, togetherness and goodwill, the Chairman of Air Warriors Basketball Club, Abuja, Alhaji Abddulmajid Solademi, hosted a group of Basketball Journalists on Saturday at his residence in celebration of the Sallah festivities in Abuja.
The gathering that shows the importance of love, peace, and unity values which is crucial not just for the advancement of basketball, but for the overall progress of the nation.
However, the Sallah is a time to reflect on our shared humanity,” he said. “It’s a moment to support one another and to uphold the values that bring us together, rather than divide us.”
Guests at the event shared stories, enjoyed meals, Asun Rice, Oriental rice, Jollof Rice, Swallow in variety with a lot of drinks that mede them to engaged in meaningful discussions on the development of sports in Nigeria, with a special focus on grassroots basketball.
Many attendees praised Solademi for his unwavering support for the sporting community and his ongoing commitment to using sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment and social transformation.
