Tekevwe Marks Positive NPFL Return as Wikki Tourists Face Ikorodu City

Nigerian forward Elogie Oha Tekevwe made a positive appearance for Wikki Tourists in their Nigeria Premier Football League encounter against Ikorodu City, coming on in the second half as he continued his return to domestic football.

Tekevwe was introduced in the 68th minute of the match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, bringing fresh energy to the Wikki Tourists attack as the Bauchi-based side battled against an Ikorodu City team that had established a strong advantage earlier in the game.

Although Wikki Tourists eventually suffered a 3–1 defeat, Tekevwe’s introduction provided another opportunity for the forward to demonstrate his qualities on the NPFL stage.

The 26 years old Nigerian attacker showed good movement and composure during his time on the pitch, looking comfortable in possession and willing to take on the opposition. His brief appearance also offered a glimpse of the attacking qualities that have characterised his career, particularly his ability to operate from the left side while also playing through the middle.

Ikorodu City had taken control of the contest in the first half, scoring three times before the interval. Wikki Tourists pulled one goal back through Jonathan Mairiga in the 66th minute, before Tekevwe entered the contest shortly afterwards. Ikorodu City eventually secured a 3–1 victory.

For Tekevwe, however, the significance of the outing goes beyond the result. The appearance represents another step in his football journey after gaining international experience in the Maldives.

The forward previously made headlines after joining Maldivian Dhivehi Premier League side Club Green Streets in September 2025, where he impressed during his spell with the club. However, after a couple of months, he called time on his stint in the Maldives and returned to Nigeria, where he resumed his career in the Nigerian top flight with Wikki Tourists.

His spell in the Maldives added an international dimension to the career of the former Espoir FC player and gave him experience outside Nigerian football.

Now back in the NPFL environment, Tekevwe will be looking to build on his latest appearance and earn more playing time as the season progresses. His ability to play in more than one attacking position could provide Wikki Tourists with an additional option as they seek to strengthen their attacking output.

While the result at Ikorodu City did not go Wikki Tourists’ way, Tekevwe’s second-half introduction provided another opportunity for the Nigerian forward to continue his development and make his mark on the domestic scene.

15 Days To AACT 2026: Deshi Assures Golfers Of A Special Experience At IBB

As the countdown to the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT) continues, Chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the IBB International Golf & Country Club, Abuja, Peter Deshi, has highlighted the readiness of the course and the improved facilities awaiting participating golfers and visitors.

Deshi says the preparations for the continental women’s golf championship reflect efforts to provide a suitable playing environment for the competing countries while showcasing the club’s distinctive character and renewed facilities.

The IBB International Golf & Country Club has undergone renovation and improvement work ahead of the tournament, following an extended period of closure to golf. The upgrades are aimed at restoring the venue and preparing it to host a championship that will bring together women golfers from across Africa.

For Deshi, hosting AACT 2026 is an opportunity to present the club in a new light, allowing players and visitors to experience an improved course and facilities while enjoying the atmosphere of one of Nigeria’s prominent golfing venues.

Located in the nation’s capital, the club has previously hosted the All Africa Challenge Trophy, including the 2010 edition. Its selection as the venue for the 2026 championship further places it at the centre of Nigeria’s preparations to welcome the continent once again.

Beyond the competition, the championship is expected to showcase Abuja’s hospitality and tourism potential, with players, officials and other visitors coming together for a week of sporting action and cultural exchange.

Nigeria will host the All Africa Challenge Trophy for the third time, following the 1996 edition at Ikoyi Club 1938 in Lagos and the 2010 championship at the IBB International Golf & Country Club, Abuja.

The 2026 tournament is scheduled for November 2 to 7 at the Abuja venue.

As preparations enter the final stretch, the focus remains on delivering a championship that celebrates women’s golf, promotes African connections and gives visitors an opportunity to experience Nigeria’s hospitality.
