Officials of the Directorate of Technical Aid Corps, led by the Agency’s Director-General, Rt. Hon. (Dr.)Yusuf Buba Yakub, arrived in Kampala, Uganda, on Monday, to commence a 4-leg tour of the East African nations hosting TAC Scheme Volunteers.

In a press statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the DTAC DG. Nkem Anyata-Lafia Tuesday, DTAC boss, said the monitoring and evaluation exercise was a necessary means of familiarizing himself with the stakeholders of the TAC Scheme in the Sub-Region since assuming office about two months ago.

During this visit, Rt.Hon.Buba is also expected to assess the condition of the Volunteers and the level of compliance of recipient countries and the Volunteers with the tripartite agreement entered into with the Federal Republic of Nigeria on one hand and the Volunteers on the other.
The DTAC DG is on this visit with the Director of Programmes in the Agency, Amb. Mohammed Mohammed; the Ag. Director, Finance and Accounts, Mr. Saidu Idris as well as Hajiya Rahila Ayuba, the Ag. Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, among others.

The delegation is expected to meet with officers of the Nigerian Missions in countries being visited, the Volunteers, and as well as other stakeholders contributing to the realization of President Tinubu’s Foreign Policy initiatives through the DTAC mandate.

No Leadership Vacuum in NYCN – Council Reacts to CAC’s Alleged Withdrawal

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has noted with concern recent reports alleging the withdrawal of its certificate of incorporation by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC),

alongside the purported appointment of an interim management team by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development (FMYD).

In a statement Signed President, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo and  NYCN Board of TrusteesOn Wednesday in Abuja

According to the statement, wish to state categorically that the leadership of the NYCN under Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo remains the only legitimate and legally recognized leadership, as affirmed by the Federal High Court in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/1553/2022 – Incorporated Trustees of the NYCN & 4 Ors vs CAC & 3 Ors.

In that judgment, Hon. Justice D.U. Okorowo upheld both the validity of the NYCN’s certificate of incorporation and the lawfulness of the current leadership structure. While this matter is presently under appeal in Appeal No: CA/ABJ/CV/13081/2023, the High Court ruling remains valid and binding until set aside by a higher court.

Therefore, any actions taken by the CAC or FMYD to withdraw the certificate or appoint an interim leadership are illegal, premature, and in contempt of court. These actions amount to a clear case of self-help and an attempt to undermine the rule of law.

We urge all NYCN members across the federation—state chapters, zonal coordinators, affiliate bodies, and Nigerian youths at large—to remain calm and law-abiding. Disregard any announcements or directives from unauthorized individuals or agencies seeking to destabilize the Council’s leadership.

The NYCN remains committed to unity, peace, and youth development in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

“We call for collective focus on building a stronger, inclusive, and forward-looking Council that truly represents the voice and aspirations of Nigerian youths.”
