Umahi Inaugurates APC National Convention Accommodation, Transport Committee
Joel Ajayi
In a step toward ensuring a seamless and well-coordinated 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, the Honourable Minister of Works, Senator Engr. David Umahi, CON, on Tuesday formally inaugurated the Party’s Committee on Accommodation and Transportation in Abuja.
The strategic committee, which will oversee critical logistics for the forthcoming convention, was inaugurated under the leadership of Senator Umahi, who chairs the transportation component, while the Governor of Kano State, His Excellency Abba Kabir Yusuf, heads the accommodation arm.
Both committees are designed to function as sister structures, working in close coordination to ensure that every logistical detail of the convention is correctly handled.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, brought together key members entrusted with the responsibility of planning and managing the movement and lodging of party leaders, delegates, and special guests expected from across the country.
The committee’s mandate includes transportation logistics and movement planning, accommodation planning and coordination, hotel engagement and room allocation as well as monitoring and operational support throughout the duration of the convention.
Addressing members at the inauguration, the Minister emphasized the central role of Transportation and Accommodation in determining the success of a major political event such as the APC National Convention.
“Our leaders and special guests must be properly accommodated. Transportation between hotels, airports, and the convention venue must be well coordinated. When these logistics work smoothly, the Convention proceeds seamlessly.
When they fail, even the most carefully planned event can be disrupted. It is therefore the responsibility of this Committee to ensure that the accommodation and transportation arrangements for the Convention are properly planned, well coordinated, and professionally executed.”
He expressed strong confidence in the competence and dedication of members of the committee, noting that their collective experience would be instrumental in delivering a convention worthy of the ruling party.
“I am confident that with the experience, commitment, and leadership represented in this Committee, we will work together to ensure that the APC 2026 National Convention is conducted in an organized, efficient, and successful manner.”
Formally inaugurating the committee, the Minister said: “On behalf my brother the Governor of Kano State, HE governor Yusuf, the vice chairman, distinguished senators, Secretary of the committee, Arch. Dangiwa and the assistant secretary, I hereby inaugurate the committee on transport and accommodation pending official split of the committee, so help us God.”
