We ‘ll organise more competitions to discover raw talent athletes Trado Sports President

The president of the Traditional Sports Federation of Nigeria, Olomo Agbadabina on Thursday said the federation will organise more competions to discover raw talent athletes in Nigeria .


He gave this assurance in Abuja that competitons will be organised at all level in the nation to hunt for new athletes that that represent the country for continent Championship.


According to him, they will start to organise competitions from all local governments .
“We will start from local governments, to state government, to zonal level then national championship.


“This is the best way to develop the sport in the country and I will also help to discover athletes and then nurture them for major encounter.


“We want to finish among the best whenever we participate in any continental Championship,”he said.


He commended on the 2022 edition of the just concluded National Open Traditional Sports help in Abuja.


“This is new era for traditional sports in Nigeria, for quite some time now, we have not be hearing of traditional sports event in the country.


“We continue to organise more competions to make or athletes busy and fit for any events.


“This is our own history sports that we must develop in the country,”he said.
The president said they need support from private organisations to sponsor their various.


“The major challenges facing us now is lack of adequate funds to execute our various programmes.


“We appeal to corperate bodies, phylantropists, rich Nigerian and lovers of sports to come to our aid so that we will be able to organise more competions,” he said
It was gathered that a total of nine state participate in the just concluded National Open Traditional Sports : Edo, Katsina, Kano, Nassarawa, Bayelsa, Delta, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, FCT.


The 2022 edition of the Sport featured Kokuwa, Dambe, Abula, Langa and Ayo.

Cricket: Nigeria To Host ICC U19 Men’s World Cup Qualifier

Nigeria Cricket Federation , NCF, says it is ready to host five other nations for the International Cricket Council ,ICC, Under 19 Men’s World Cup African Qualifier.


The tournament is billed for Lagos, with the matches to be held at the cricket ovals in Tafawa Balewa Square ,TBS, and the University of Lagos ,UniLag, from March 26 to April 6.


Uyi Akpata, President of the Federation, said in a statement on Sunday, that the tournament is about celebrating the growth of the game on the continent.


“Nigeria is thrilled to welcome these talented young cricketers and their supporters to Lagos.
“Our nation is known for its warm hospitality and fascinating cricketing potential, and we are committed to making this qualifier a memorable experience for all.


“This tournament is not just about competition; it’s about celebrating the growth of cricket in Africa and inspiring the next generation of players”, Akpata noted.


However, Kenya, Uganda, Namibia, Tanzania and Sierra Leone will join Nigeria to jostle for the continent’s sole ticket to the 2026 ICC Under 19 Men’s World Cup.


Meanwhile, Nigeria will be hoping to secure the ticket, having achieved same feat in 2019 and competing at the World Cup in South Africa 2020
