World Boxing President, Boris Van Der Vorst Set To Visit Nigeria

The World Boxing President, Boris Van Der Vorst is set to visit Nigeria from the 23rd February to 26th February, 2025.
In a statement signes by Nigeria Boxing Federation on Wednesday in Abuja said that, the historic visit is coming on the heels of myriad of challenges facing the game of Boxing in the continent of Africa.
His visit is part of his continuous engagement with key Boxing stakeholders around the world, especially Africa to seek support from Nigeria and other African countries towards moving the game of boxing forward.
President Boris Van Der Vorst, will also meet with the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), as key stakeholders who play pivotal roles in making sure that Nigeria has good representation in boxing globally.
His visit is expected to bring lots attention to the game of Boxing, in the areas of Boxing Gyms development, provision of standard equipment that will enhance training and good performance of Boxing athletes during competitions.
President Boris Van Der Vorst, is scheduled to arrive the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Abuja on the 23rd and will visit local boxing gyms after official welcome ceremony.
He will be meeting with Boxing Federations Presidents from other African Countries on the 24th, followed by a Dinner later in the day.
President Boris Van Der Vorst, will as part of his visit to the country pay courtesy visit on the leadership of the National Sports Commission (NSC), and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), on the 25th February, 2025.
He will depart Nigeria on the 26th February,2025.

Team Nigeria Jets to Cairo for 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships

Excitement is high as Team Nigeria’s para powerlifting contingent departed Nigeria on Tuesday, October 7, for the 11th World Para Powerlifting Championships set to take place in Cairo, Egypt, from October 9 to 18, 2025.
The milestone event marks the first-ever World Championships to be hosted on African soil, symbolizing a new era for the sport on the continent.
The first batch of Team Nigeria athletes left the country on Tuesday amid cheers and well-wishes from officials, fans, and supporters.
The second batch of the contingent is scheduled to depart tomorrow, October 8, from Lagos, completing the full team that will represent the nation at this landmark competition.
Speaking ahead of the departure, officials expressed confidence in the team’s readiness and determination to uphold Nigeria’s longstanding reputation as a force to be reckoned with, in global para powerlifting.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) reaffirmed its full support for the athletes, emphasizing the government’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and excellence in sports.
