11-Year-Old Gymnast Gets N1m, Free Flights From Air Peace

Air Peace, a private Nigerian airline, Allen Onyeama said he has handed some reward to 11 years old Nigeria’s  sensation gymnast Stephanie Onusiriuka.

He said this on its twitter handle @flyairpeace that Onusiriuka received the sum of N1 million from its Chairman,

It added that this reward was for her performance at the recent African Club Gymnastics Championship in Pretoria, South Africa.

The airline said further that the 11-year-old also earned free flight tickets to all Air Peace destinations for trainings and competitions.

“Congratulations to Stephanie Onusiriuka, an 11-year-old Nigerian who recently won a gold medal at the Junior Olympics Level of the African Club Championship in Pretoria.”

It added: “Supporting young talent, especially in sports, is part of our Coporate Social Responsibility orientation”.

However, the reports that Onusiriuka, alongside eight other gymnasts from the Abuja-based Tony International Gymnastics Club, featured at the Aug. 12 to Aug. 13 event in Pretoria.

NEDC Disowns Circulating MSc Education Support Fund Application

The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has warned the public against a fake and unauthorised message circulating on social media about an alleged Education Support Fund for Master’s degree (MSc) students.


The Commission, in a disclaimer signed by its management on Friday, described the purported programme, including its stated requirements and the alleged submission point at the NEDC office in Polo, Maiduguri, as false and unauthorised.


According to the Commission, it is not currently receiving applications for any MSc Education Support Fund as contained in the circulating message.


NEDC therefore urged prospective applicants and other members of the public to disregard the information and avoid submitting personal documents to individuals or locations claiming to be acting on behalf of the Commission.

It specifically cautioned the public against releasing sensitive documents such as National Identification Number (NIN) slips, admission letters, identity cards and indigene certificates in connection with the purported programme.

The Commission further warned the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes and the unauthorised use of NEDC’s name and identity to deceive unsuspecting applicants.

It advised members of the public seeking information on its programmes, interventions and opportunities to rely only on official NEDC communication channels and verified announcements issued by the Commission
