2025 International Youth Day: CLTC DG Praises Nigerian Youth, Urges Enhanced Creativity

The newly appointed Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Ms. Derinsola Abiola, has lauded Nigerian youth for their resilience, creativity, and ingenuity, while calling on them to further harness and promote local skills as a catalyst for national development.
In her goodwill message on Tuesday in Abuja during the 2025 International Youth Day celebration—organised by the Ministry of Youth Development and themed “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond” Abiola commended the pivotal role of Nigerian youth in advancing peace, unity, and socio-economic growth.
The former Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership praised the achievements of young Nigerians across sports, technology, entrepreneurship, and community service, describing their dynamism as a driving force for the country’s future.
“Our youths are not just leaders of tomorrow; they are innovators, change-makers, and champions of today. Their resilience in the face of challenges is a beacon of hope for a brighter future,” she said.
She urged young Nigerians to avoid substance abuse and other vices that could derail their ambitions, instead embracing discipline, dedication, and self-improvement as pathways to excellence.
It will be recalled that iInternational Youth Day, celebrated every August 12, is a moment to recognise the contributions of young people to sustainable development worldwide

AUDA-NEPAD CEO Highlights Collaboration as Catalyst for Africa’s Economic Competitiveness

The Chief Executive Officer and National Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria, Hon. Jabiru Salisu Abdullahi, has called for stronger public-private partnerships to boost Africa’s global competitiveness.
Speaking at the High-Level Business Forum 2025 organised by the NEPAD Business Group Nigeria in Lagos, Hon. Abdullahi said Africa’s transformation will be driven by enterprise, not aid.
He urged governments to create enabling environments that foster innovation, industrial growth, and sustainable development.
He reaffirmed AUDA-NEPAD Nigeria’s commitment to working with private sector actors and development partners to deliver key initiatives in agriculture, ICT, manufacturing, and renewable energy under the AU Agenda 2063 framework.
The event brought together top business and policy leaders, including representatives from the African Business Roundtable, the Bank of Industry, the Africa Finance Corporation, and the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, among others.
