22 Suspected Coronavirus Cases Tested Negative In Kano-Commissioner for Health

Kano State Task Force Committee on COVID-19, says 22 of the 25 suspected Coronavirus cases have tested negative to the virus while three others are still pending.
The state Commissioner for Health Dr Ibrahim Tsanyawa, and a member of the committee, made the disclosure at a press conference on Thursday in Kano.
Tsanyawa said the state government had adopted proactive measures to prevent spread of the pandemic in the state.
He listed some of the measures to include closure of schools, restriction of movements and closure of state boundary, encouraged stay-at-home order, promote practice of hand washing, environment and personal hygiene as well as social distancing.
The commissioner added that the state also expanded the scope of its Rapid Response Team, set up additional emergency help lines and isolation centres.
Tsanyawa said: “An endowment fund has been established to mobilise resources for the protection, control and prevention efforts as well as ease hardship caused by measures adopted against the spread of the virus”.
He urged the people for sustain support to the fight against the spread of the virus, which he said has not been recorded so far in the state.

Lawmaker condemns arrest of VDM

The member representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani federal constituency in House of Representatives, Rep. Nnamdi Ezechi has vehemently condemned the arrest of Mr Martins Otse popularly known as Very Dark Man (VDM).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that On May 2, Martins Otse was arested on allegation of cyberstalking the Guarantee Trust Bank, Abuja.
NAN reports that he visited the bank, where he complained about alleged unauthorized deduction of funds from his mother’s account.
Ezechi who described the arrest as unprofessional, called on the Nigerian Police Authorities to prioritize professionalism in the discharge of their constitutional duties.
He said that the police would have invited him professionally as a law abiding citizen of Nigeria than applying a gestapo approach.
“I, Hon Nnamdi Ezechi vehemently condemn the arrest of Very Dark Man at the Guarantee Trust Bank, Abuja.
“Very Dark Man, I know is not a criminal, and as such cannot be arrested like a criminal,” he said.
The lawmaker who called for VDM’s immediate release, advised banks especially GTB management to always protect their customers’ privacy.
Ezechi said that it was unethical for banks to disclose informations about movement or privacy of their customers especially law abiding customers like VDM.
According to him, VDM is a Human Rights Activist who fights for the rights of oppressed and common people in the society.
