D’Tigres release final 13-Woman lists for 2021 Afrobasket

Nigeria Women’s National team coach Otis Hughley on Tuesday released the final 13-woman list for the 2021 women Afrobasket Tournament slated for 17th to 26th of September.

The back-to-back Afrobasket Champions D’tigress will be going to Cameroon to defend the tournament they won in 2017, 2019 respectively.

In a statement issued by the Nigeria Basketball Federation. Women Basketball Team list for Afro-basket include; Adaora Elonu, Elizabeth Balogun, Promise Amukamara, Ezinne Kalu, Pallas kunayi- Akpanah  Ifunanya Ibekwe, Amy Okonkwo.

Other players are; Oderah Chidom, Victoria Macaulay, Nicole EnabosiS, arah Ogoke, Murjanstu Musa and Nkem Uwa Akaraiwe.The 2021 Afrobasket women edition of the tournament will be held from 17th to 26th September 2021 in Yaounde Cameroon. 

Nigeria’s D’tigress is drawn alongside Angola, Mozambique in group BSenegal square up with Egypt and Guinea in Group C, Mali, Ivory Coast and Tunisia will slug it out in Group D while Group A consists of Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Kenya.


Women Senior National Team D’tigres will play Mozambique in the first game before slug out with Angola in the second game of Group B.

Airwarrior Basketball Club Chairman, Celebrates Sallah with Journalists in Abuja

The event, filled with camaraderie and appreciation, provided an opportunity for Alhaji Solademi to acknowledge the vital role of the media in national development and the promotion of sports in Nigeria.


In a warm gesture of unity, oneness, togetherness and goodwill, the Chairman of Air Warriors Basketball Club, Abuja, Alhaji Abddulmajid  Solademi, hosted a group of Basketball Journalists on Saturday at his residence in celebration of the Sallah festivities in Abuja.


The gathering that shows the  importance of love, peace, and unity values which is crucial not just for the advancement of basketball, but for the overall progress of the nation.


However, the Sallah is a time to reflect on our shared humanity,” he said. “It’s a moment to support one another and to uphold the values that bring us together, rather than divide us.”


Guests at the event shared stories, enjoyed meals, Asun Rice, Oriental rice,  Jollof Rice, Swallow in variety with a lot of drinks that mede them to  engaged in meaningful discussions on the development of sports in Nigeria, with a special focus on grassroots basketball.


Many attendees praised Solademi for his unwavering support for the sporting community and his ongoing commitment to using sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment and social transformation.
