Ex Footballer Peterside joins NFF Presidency race, vows to Restore Football in Nigeria

As September 30th NFF election is draw nearer,  A sports analyst/commentator with a super Sports Idah Peterside joined the race to be next president of NFF.


An ex super eagles goalkeeper Peterside said that Nigeria has a rich history as strong football nation that need someone who has all it take to drive it globally.


He gave this assurance on Wednesday in Abuja, when he officially declared his intention to run for the position of President of the Nigeria football governing body NFF.


While speaking he said Nigeria football need surgery, it need surgery in two ways the national team and Nigeria league that must be fix.


According to him, I pledge to work with people various levels of society, government, corporate world, to do my all in restoring the pride of Nigeria football.
“If I become President of the Nigerian Football Federation, I will propose and undertake to establish a world-class football centre at the national level like Morocco’s Mohammed the 6th football centre that features world-class equipment, and accommodation designed to develop high-achieving football stars.


“Women’s football will be given the priority it deserves. I will work towards galvanising the women’s league by not only increasing the prize money for the eventual winners of the league but also actively seek for sponsorship for teams that are struggling to maintain their status in the league. 


“We will work towards increasing TV coverage as well as seek sponsorships for all the club sides in the country. No football club should have to be in a position where they are unable to pay their players or afford to travel to away match venues.
“Nigeria deserves to benefit from the experiences and know-how of ex-footballers like me who want to serve this beautiful country of ours.”


He however, rolled out 8 points agenda to toward the full restoration of Nigeria football.


The. agenda include; a more inclusive and Democratic NFF, Developing the standard of the local league including the pro league and second division, to focus on women’s football, establishing a world-class football centre at the national level.


Other agenda are; Funds for state football and affiliated association; Registration scheme for ex-football international; introduction of TV right and sponsorship packages as well as develop Grassroot football.

NMCO DG, Bags CIML Best Civil Servant Leadership Award

Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership, CIML, Commonwealth Kentucky, USA has bestowed its Best Public Servant Leader Award of Excellence in Nigeria on the Director General,DG, of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, NMCO, Engr Obadiah Simon Nkom.

The award presentation took place at a Management and Leadership program organized by the institute, according to a statement signed by the head, of Press and Public Relations, NMCO, Sade Fatoke.

Engr Nkom was also inducted as a Fellow and Member, of the Board of Regents at the event with the theme: ‘Leadership, Strategic Management, and Policy Solutions: Advancing Environmental Sustainability in Nigeria’ held at Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja on August 29, 2024, the statement added.

According to the Institute, the Director General is valued for his various reforms in the Mining Cadastre Office, particularly the automation of the Cadastre system to online and real-time Mineral Title Administration and Management in line with best practice.

This, it added, has cascaded to a robust mining sector, impacting positively the economy of the country. 

The Institute further noted that Engr Nkom’s passion for human development, youth empowerment, and skill acquisition made him to stand out for the leadership award.
