Nollywood 4 Igbo Presidency throw weight behind Igbo Presidency

…Call on President Buhari to support a South Eastern Successor
…… Says Creative for Equity and Justice
Joel Ajayi
As stakeholders in the Nigerian socio-economic space, and a major contributor to the GDP growth of the national life of this country in the last 30 years, we feel compelled by some recent realities of our national existence, to converge under the umbrella of Nollywood 4 Igbo Presidency, a non-partisan national political support group, comprising of active practitioners in the Nigeria motion picture industry, Nollywood.
In a press statement jointly signed by the Nollywood 4 Igbo Presidency Convener Madu C Chikwendu. And Mr Nzeh Frankwhite Secretary on Sunday in Abuja.
According to the statement, Our motive is simply to mobilize and enlist as many active practitioners as possible as volunteers, for the singular purpose of drumming up support for the emergence of a Nigerian president from the South eastern part of Nigeria (Igbos). This call has become eminently expedient for the promotion of fairness, equity and justice in our country
“This group believes in the cooperate existence of the geographical space called Nigeria, as one indivisible entity and will ensure we deploy every strategy within our means to promote it and strengthen its continued unity, irrespective of our ethnic, cultural and religious differences, hence we call for all political leaders of good conscience and have the interest of the nation at heart to support the call for the political leadership of this country be ceded to the Igbos in 2023
“Beginning from the 2nd week in the month of March, we shall be embarking on advocacy visits to top political leaders across tribal and religious divides to seek their support for the actualization of this call, we shall also be reaching out to all the leading political parties, to lobby them on the need to zone the presidency of their individual parties to the southeast in 2023
“It is instructive to note that the enterprising spirit of the average Igbo man, which has been internationally acknowledged, was brought to bear in the evolution process of this great industry that is presently one of the nation’s highest employers of labour, hence their role at the formative stage of the present day Nollywood cannot be overemphasized, little wonder most Igbo titles, clichés, idiomatic expressions, etc. easily became the most convenient means of referring to Nigeria and Nigerians abroad, by foreigners whose only point of contact with Nigeria was through the popular Nollywood movies that were making waves in various parts of Asia, Europe and America. These are incontrovertible facts of our national historical development
“Finally, we call on the president of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, to support a successor from the South Eastern part of Nigeria and boldly have his name written in gold in the political anal of this country.”

Nigeria, Saudi Arabia Explore Film Production Collaboration

Joel Ajayi
Nigeria and Saudi Arabia have commenced discussions on sustainable cultural cooperation, particularly in the area film production.
Consequently, a meeting has been held between the Nigerian Film Corporation led by Dr. Ali Nuhu and Mr. Ali Khalil Al-Maqeit, representative of the Saudi Arabia Film Commission, at the ongoing Berlinale film festival in Germany.
The Saudi authorities are eager to sign a cooperation agreement with Nigeria, to facilitate a robust film sector development for both countries.
The potentials for film industry growth are vast, with opportunities for co-production, talent exchange, and knowledge sharing. The handshake between Nigeria’s vibrant film industry, and that of Saudi Arabia would enable the showcase of unique cultures of both nations.
This significant effort is part of a broader strategy by Saudi Arabia and Nigeria to strengthen bilateral cultural relations.
As the two countries move towards the emplacement of a cooperation agreement, exciting new developments and investment opportunities await Nigeria and Saudi filmmakers.
