FCT Minister Inaugurates MOC, LOC For Abuja International Marathon

The Minister of state for FCT Dr. Ramatu Aliyu has inaugurated 22 members of Main Organizing Committee (MOC) and Local Organizing Committee LOC with a view to ensuring successful planning and participation for the first ever Abuja International Marathon AIM, event slated for December 2022.

Speaking at the press conference on Wednesday in Abuja, who was represented by Permanent Secretary Mr. Adesola Olusade, she charged committees to put in their best towards ensuring a successful and hitch free Marathon race.

According to Today we are inaugurating the main organizing committee and local organizing committee that will go into critical aspect of implementation on this marathon.

“With the event from this inauguration today, there is no longer a resting time, all hands must be on deck to ensure we have a big success of this event.

“I want to charge you to address any assignment given to you with all sense of commitment and responsibility bearing in mind FCT is hosting the world.”

In his reaction, the Race Director Mr. Kayode Thomas revealed that the organizer has been working for the past 4 years to see this happening.

He expressed that, the race will no doubt impact citizen of Abuja in tourism, hospitality and food amongst others.

As we speak, 10 runners have register, we are expecting over 30,000 runners that will run in different categories. We have put everything in place security, the route and the rest. We are fully aware of responsibility, and we are prepared to ensure success of the games.

On his own, Acting FCT Director of Sports Lukas Tifanus said that the race will includes young one as the FCT is ready to allow all the primary school age participate in the 5kilometer race while secondary school age will participate in 10-kilometer race.

Some notable among the committee are Permanent Secretary Mr Olusade Adesola Chairman, Acting FCT Director of Sports Lukas Tifanus, FCT Mandate Secretary, Social Development Secretariat, Hadiza Mohammed, Kayode Thomas, Uche Nwudoh amongst others.

FCT Residents shun FiFa World cup for OteforWealth championship



Resident of FCT weekend shuned the ongoing world cup Games in Qatar but trouped out en mass to cheer their different states participating at the ongoing OTE4Wealth National championship.

The Ote4Wealth Football Tournament holding at the Water FC Stadium, Apo Abuja is in in honour of Diamond Jubilee celebration of Nigeria’s foremost philanthropist and Business mogul, Femi Otedola Femi Otedola who clocked 60 on November 4. 

In matches day two, Bayelsa advanced to the next round of the maiden edition of #Ote4Wealth National Football Tournament on Saturday.

Edo were the victims as Bayelsa humbled them 2-0, with John Raphael registering a brace.

Goals from Zakari John and Biola Brian was the tonic Abia needed to defeat Taraba 2-0.
A superbly taken free kick by Ehiam Akami helped Akwa Ibom pip Ogun 1-0.

Meanwhile, FCT also beat Oyo 1-0. Sani Auwalu was on song for the winning team.
Ajoh Chika’s header settled the game between Ebonyi and Enugu. 

Ekiti and Niger failed to score at the end of regulation. The latter won 4-3 on penalties.
