NTDA, OSGF Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthening Tourism Development Partnership

The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) and the Office of the Surveyor General of the Federation (OSGF) have taken steps to revitalize their existing partnership, following a courtesy visit by the Director General of NTDA, Mr. Ola Awakan, to the Surveyor General of the Federation, Mr. Abdulganiyu A. Adebomehin, FNIS, FCE, at the OSGF headquarters in Abuja.
Welcoming the NTDA delegation, the Surveyor General described the OSGF as one of Nigeria’s oldest public institutions, with a history that predates 1908.

He spoke on the rigour and precision of the surveying profession, noting that it involves extensive fieldwork across challenging terrains and increasing integration of technology.

While acknowledging technological advancements, he emphasized that professional expertise and experience remain central to achieving accuracy.

He highlighted the growing economic opportunities within the tourism sector and underscored the importance of mapping and wayfinding in tourism development.

Drawing from personal experience during his first international trip, he noted how accessible and accurate maps improve navigation and visitor confidence. He added that the OSGF possesses valuable geospatial data, including street guide maps, which can be better deployed to support tourism growth.

The Surveyor General expressed readiness to collaborate with NTDA on the development of digital mapping solutions to improve access to tourism destinations and enhance visitor experience.

He stressed the need for reliable, homegrown mapping platforms that can complement existing global tools, noting that widely used digital maps are not always fully accurate. He also referenced ongoing interest in mapping and supporting tourism locations, including coastal and leisure destinations.

In his response, the Director General of NTDA thanked the Surveyor General for the warm reception and acknowledged the historical importance of the OSGF. He described tourism as a major economic driver with a wide value chain and noted the strong alignment between tourism and surveying, as both are fundamentally linked to movement, navigation, and spatial planning.

The DG reiterated NTDA’s mandate as the apex regulator of tourism in Nigeria, responsible for developing tourism destinations and promoting Nigeria’s tourism assets and cultural heritage to domestic and international markets.

He emphasized the importance of leveraging technology, digital platforms, and innovation to increase visibility of Nigeria’s vast tourism potential, citing ongoing collaborative efforts with states, including recent engagements in Katsina State.

He welcomed the areas of collaboration proposed and expressed NTDA’s commitment to revitalizing the existing partnership framework between both institutions.

He stressed that practical inter-agency collaboration remains critical to advancing national development and delivering tangible benefits to Nigerians.

In his closing remarks, the Surveyor General affirmed the need to rekindle the existing synergy between NTDA and OSGF and proposed the establishment of a joint committee to drive renewed collaboration.

The meeting concluded with mutual appreciation and a shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in support of tourism development and national growth.

The Group Managing Director (GMD) and CEO of KSI Construction Company Limited, Engr. Koleola Emmanuel Fadeni, has congratulated Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, on the award of outstanding contributions by the Governor of the Sunshine State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, at Ondo@50 Golden Jubilee celebration.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Friday, Engr. Fadeni, who recently won the Real Estate Giant of the Year award, lauded the Speaker’s contributions to the development and growth of Ondo state since his emergence as Honourable Speaker.

The MD/CEO of the leading construction company in Nigeria commended the Speaker for empowering hundreds of young people with vocational skills and start-up grants to foster entrepreneurship.

Engr. Fadeni also lauded the Speaker for providing free medical services to rural communities, infrastructure development, which include roads, classroom blocks and education support through scholarship schemes and provision of school supplies to help alleviate the sufferings of the indigent public in his state constituency.

He said: “Rt. Hon. Speaker sir, upon your assumption of office in 2023, you have distinguished yourself as a transformative leader, whose performance has reshaped the legislative landscape of our beloved Ondo state.

“Your visionary leadership, innovation and people-centered governance has contributed immensely to the socio-economic and massive development in the state.

“Rt. Hon. Speaker sir, under your watch as the Speaker of Ondo state House of Assembly, your Inclusivity of all members of the Ondo state House of Assembly has brought development to all the nooks and crannies of our beloved state.

“Under your watch as Speaker, Ondo state House of Assembly has passed critical bills aimed at improving the socio and economic well-being of our people. “Worthy of note is the Ondo state Education Reform Bill, the state Health Insurance Scheme Amendment Bill, Ondo state Agricultural Empowerment Bill, while you also advocated for digitalization of legislature processes.”

“Rt. Hon. Speaker, it is on record that our beloved state in the Southwest region became the first state to implement e-registration platforms for record -keeping and legislative tracking, which has increased and sustained transparency and enhanced public trust in the activities of Ondo state House of Assembly.

“Outside the floor of House of Assembly, Your Rt. Hon. Speaker has focused on betterment and well-being of your constituents through regular town hall meetings and grassroot engagement to actually know the needs of your people.

“Your dedication to the welfare and betterment of Ondo people is also in line with my vision to empower the youth and widows of Ondo Town through the Funke Fadeni Foundation, for the growth and development of our dear state.

“While congratulating your Rt. Hon. Speaker on your award for your outstanding contributions to the development and growth of our beloved state, it is my fervent prayer that God Almighty will continue to endow you with wisdom, strength, courage and good health as you continue to serve humanity and our beloved Ondo state. About Fadeni

Fadeni, a native of Ondo Town in Ondo State, South-West Nigeria, is widely known for his philanthropic interventions, especially within the FCT.

He has facilitated the construction of boreholes in several communities like Bwari, providing residents with access to clean and potable water and easing the burden of water scarcity.

He has also empowered numerous widows through financial assistance and material support, particularly during festive seasons. Beneficiaries say these gestures have brought relief, restored hope and improved living conditions for many households.

Beyond his current interventions, Fadeni plans to deepen his humanitarian engagements through his Funke Fadeni Foundation.

He is expected to roll out a youth empowerment programme in Ondo State from Monday, April 13th, to Thursday 16th April, 2026.

The event is aimed at equipping young people with relevant skills, startup support and opportunities to lift them out of poverty.

Also, several widows will be gifted both cash and food items during the empowerment programmes.

Fadeni holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and a Doctorate degree from the ESAE Benin Republic University.

Although he is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of KSI Construction Company Ltd, Abuja, with operations in other countries, observers say his influence increasingly goes beyond business into humanitarian service, youth development and community empowerment.
