We must protect the sovereignty of Nigeria – Amaju pinnick NFF president
The NFF President as well as Fifa Council member Pinnick Amaju speaking today on National TV pointing out values taught the National team beyond the field of play had reacted to the viral video of a man who harassed the Falcons. He said:
“What we try to do in the federation is not just to defend the team on the field of play but we also prepare our players to defend the country off the field of play because football is not politics, football is entertainment, its recreation, its empowering, its everything.”
He further said: “What we try to do is try not to get ourselves in this type of act, it is condemnable and we will work assiduously to get this guy in question to book, because we don’t want such to happen again. The Nigerian communities in Australia and neighbouring communities are working with us and I can assure you in the nearest future, he’ll be brought to book.”
On World Cup, he revealed that the main goal now is qualifying beyond all odds for the World Cup. In his words, he said:
“Meanwhile, our main goal at the Federation now is to qualify for the World Cup, its going to be a tough call but our Players are very young, energetic and patriotic, they love this country and will give in their best and that’s what is counting for us.”

Joel Ajayi
Prominent political leaders and stakeholders converged in Bauchi State on Saturday, December 13, for the 7th edition of the Annual Grand Road Walk, an event aimed at promoting physical fitness, social inclusion and national unity.
The event was attended by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who was represented by the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports, Hon. Kabiru Amadu; Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed; distinguished senators; the Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly; members of the National and State Assemblies; senior civil servants; and corporate partners, including the Chairman of AYM Shafa Energy.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Kabiru Amadu described the annual road walk as a growing national platform for health awareness and social cohesion.
He praised Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, for his leadership and commitment to policies that prioritise the health and welfare of citizens.
“Governor Bala Mohammed’s dedication to health, infrastructure and inclusive governance is evident in the steady progress being recorded across Bauchi State,” Amadu said. “We are all beneficiaries of his vision for a healthier and more inclusive society.”
He also commended the Chairman of the Association of Physical Fitness Clubs, Bauchi State chapter, Hon. Aminu Garu, for the successful organisation of the event, noting that his leadership has strengthened the association and expanded its impact.
The Speaker further acknowledged the role of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, led by its Speaker, Alhaji Auwal Jatau, emphasising the importance of collaboration between federal and state legislatures in delivering people-centred policies.
According to Amadu, the Grand Road Walk goes beyond physical exercise, serving as a reminder of the need for Nigerians to adopt healthier lifestyles amid rising cases of preventable diseases linked to inactivity.
He highlighted the strong participation of the Association of Persons with Disabilities, describing their involvement as a powerful statement on inclusion and equal opportunity.
“This walk reminds us that national development must be inclusive,” he said. “Every step we take should move us closer to a society where opportunities are available to all Nigerians, regardless of physical ability.”
Amadu also lauded the participation of security agencies, including the Nigerian Air Force Special Taskforce and the Police Community Relations Committee, as well as the support of private sector partners such as AYM Shafa Energy, noting that sustainable progress depends on collaboration across sectors.
He called on government institutions, corporate organisations, civil society groups and the media to continue promoting health awareness, physical fitness and inclusive policies that make sports accessible to all Nigerians, particularly in underserved communities.
The event concluded with expressions of gratitude to the organisers, sponsors and participants for their contributions to promoting public health and community engagement across the country.
