Women To Get More Recognition in Sports-Dare

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare has described women as pivotal to sports development in the country, deserving recognition in every ramification.

“He said the role of women is recognized not only in sports but generally and that the Ministry will go beyond the affirmative structure in their recognition.

The Minister made this declaration during a courtesy call on him by the   Association of Women in Sports led by it’s National President, Prof.  Florence Adeyanju in his Abuja office today.  Hon.  Dare commended the women for making the Association open for both able and the disabled, as he affirmed that women have won more laurels for the country and also seen as the Ministry’s hopefuls in the forthcoming Olympics in Tokyo 2020.

Speaking further, the Minister revealed that the Ministry is building a High performance center in Abuja and have planned to build about six more to assist the athletes in their performance. He also urged the women to encourage the youths to participate more in sports.

Earlier, the President of the Association Prof. Florence Adeyanju gave the Minister an insight into the mandate of the Association and achievements.

Women In Sports, she stated, have always been discriminated, despite winning laurels for the country. She appealed the Minister to implement the affirmative action entrenched in the Beijin declaration, stressing, it would accord women the deserving recognition that would spur them achieve greater heights.

RMAFC Commissioner Enugu Senator Ayogu Eze Dies

The board, management, and staff of the RMAFC received with shock and deep sorrow the news of the passing   of distingushed Senator Ayogu Eze on Thursday 25th of April, 2024.


In a statement signed by the Chairman of RMAFC M. B. Shehu, OFR, on Friday in Abuja revealed that, “Until his demise, he was the Honourable Commissioner representing Enugu state in the Commission, where he served the nation in general and his state in particular with diligence and dedication.


“In this time of grief, we in RMAFC stand with his family and the good people of Enugu State.


“Distinguish senator Eze will be remembered for his humility,  selflessness, and exemplary service to the nation.


“You were a team worker, a brother, and a friend. May your soul rest in the Lord’s bossom .”
