World Heart Day: Ecstasy as 2,000 Nigerians walk with Kanu In Abuja

Over 2,000 people from all walks of life will participate in the 7.2 kilometres walk with Kanu Nwankwo in the Federal Capital Territory as part of the activity to mark 2021 world Heart Day.
The second edition of walk with Kanu slated for 29th of September 2021 promised to be one of the biggest events in the FCT and would no doubt create more awareness on the value of exercise to all Nigerians.
This year’s edition with the theme: “Abuja Walk with Kanu Nwankwo (Papilo) to make the heartbeat” will have the presence of the Inspector General of Police, Nigerian Celebrities, Football Legends and notable Personalities, comedians as well as government officials.
Speaking at the press conference in Abuja on Saturday, the Convener and Chairman of Local Organizing Committee LOC Mr Muhammed Mustapha said over 2,000 Nigerians are expected to walk with Kanu in the centre of unity city.
According to him, it’s a walk not only for Kanu. It’s a walk for ourselves, the more you walk the better for our hearts.
“The aim of the walk with Kanu is to improve awareness and intervention on the need to protect and care for our hearts.
“Abuja Walk With Kanu” is an event to commemorate the globally celebrated World Heart Day and will commence from the Office of the Inspector General of Police, through routes cutting across Secretariat, High Court/Abia House, Intel Junction, AP Plaza, CAC, INEC Office and Transcorp Hilton as an endpoint.
According to organizer Mr Mustapha, he revealed that the walk with Kanu event will witness the participation of Nigerian Celebrities, Football Legends and notable Personalities, which includes Actress Tonto Dikeh, Cubana Chief Priest, Abbeh Abuede, Tijani Babangida, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Emenike, Victor Ikpeba, Dare Art Alade and amongst others.
While giving hint on the achievement of Kanu Heart Foundation KHF that was created 21 years ago. He said that over 565 persons had benefited from Kanu heart foundation across the country as over 224 in waiting to enjoy the kind heart KHF
KHF remains one of the Non-governmental organizations in Nigeria established to help indigenous children and adults suffering from cardiac-related diseases.
He assured that every logistic has been put in place by the organizer to ensure a smooth walk in the FCT.
Mr Mustapha said before the commencement of the walk with Kanu by 7:00 am there will be free medical checkups for participants.

Umuonyeoziri Kindred Mourns, As Family Head Passes On

Umuonyeoziri Kindred in Umuagwu, Ogbor-Ihitteafoukwu Autonomous Community in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State has expressed grief over the death of one of their illustrious elders, Mr Cornelius Onwuka.
Mr Onwuka, popularly known as Uturu, passed away on March 18, aged 70.
An astute businessman and resilient transporter, Onwuka was second to the eldest head of Umuonyeoziri Kindred before his death.
Expressing sadness over his death, a prominent leader of the kindred, Nze Aloysius Nnorom (Why Worry) noted that the deceased left the the kindred when his fatherly guidance was needed the most.
Nze Nnorom, however, acknowledged that no creature questions the will of the Almighty over anybody’s sojourn on earth.
“Well, Dee Bom Boy (Mr Onwuka) did his best in guiding this family aright and God Almighty decided to take him away at this time when we needed him the most. We cannot question his decisions, as he is the giver and taker of life. He knows when it is due for any creature to return home to him.
“However, all we can do is to pray for De Bom Boy to find joy in the bosom of the Lord, while we, the ones he left behind, continue to build from where he left us,” Nnorom said.
Speaking, first son of the deceased, Mr Uchenna Onwuka noted that his father played his role perfectly as a businessman to give his children the right training in life.
“My father never slacked in giving us all we needed to keep his family and legacy going.
“Uturu was never found wanting as long as family leadership and upbringing is concerned. We will continue celebrating him as a role model in every aspect,” he said.
The remains of the late Onwuka, who is survived by his wife, Grace, and seven children, will be buried on August 22 and 23, according to the burial arrangements announced by his family.
