DALUNG CONDOLES PLATEAU STATE GOVT. OVER BUILDING COLLAPSE IN JOS*

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Barrister Solomon Dalung has commiserated with the Government and people of Plateau state over the death of several people following the collapse of a three-story building located at Butcher Line in Jos, Plateau state.

The building located at Yantaye close to Terminus was said to have collapsed at about 4:30pm on Monday July 15, 2019 trapping many of its occupants.
As at Monday night, 14 bodies had already been deposited in hospital morgues while the number of occupants still trapped in the rubble remains uncertainty.

Dalung described the incident as painful and unfortunate.

“I wish to express deep shock and my profound condolences to the government and good people of Plateau state over this tragedy.

“I am deeply pained by this sudden loss of lives and property and pray that God will console the government and people of Plateau especially the families affected by the collapsed building in Jos.”

Barrister Dalung also called for rescue operation by National Emergency Management Agency to ensure that people still trapped in the rubble are rescued.
He appealed to public spirited indigenes of Jos to join hands in the rescue operation and support those rescued alive by ensuring that they are taken to the nearest hospitals for immediate treatment.

On the eve of the closing ceremony alone, Ghana clinched eight gold medals, winning the ultimate prize in women’s hockey, 200m men’s athletics event, high jump, men’s football event, and four boxing gold medals in boxing. All in one night.

Ghana also made history by becoming the first country to win god in both men’s and women’s football events at the Games.

The closing ceremony of the Games saw star performances from star acts such as Stonebwoy, Stanley Enow, Wiyaala, Innoss’B, amongst others.

As Ghana continues its upward trajectory in the realm of sports, the nation stands poised to achieve even greater milestones under the visionary leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Sports minister, Mustapha Ussif.
