Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr. Dare Sunday has revealed that MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja will be wearing a new look next week or upper week as the Business Mogul, Aliko Dangote has agreed to renovate the facilities that has been moribund for some years.
Mr. Dare made this known on Thursday in Abuja shortly after the joint inspection of the stadium by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Minister of FCT Malam Bello Muhammed in an effort to bring the stadium back to life.
According to him, as you know we are just trying to get private investment into sports development and funding. So, the process is ongoing.
“Yes, Abuja National Stadium is coming back, already we have gotten Dangote and he has agreed to bring back the Abuja football pitch, scoreboard and the lightening system. The renovation will start next week or in two weeks time and we’ll use the same model adopted for several of our other stadia, at least the three other big ones.
“So, we are looking at between now and March 2020, we should have four big stadia football pitches with FIFA standard and I think if we’re given time within a year, this country will be ready to host virtually any FIFA soccer tournament.” He promised.
