‘Take FCT SWAN to next level’ – NYSC Director Attah charges newly-elected ExCo



Emmanuel Attah, the Director of General Services of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has charged the SWAN FCT Chapter to take the association to the next level.

During a condolence/courtesy visit to the director’s office on Monday by the newly- elected executives of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT Chapter led by Haruna Bunmi, Attah told the Exco to “breathe life into SWAN”.

Attah, who was former Super Eagles Coordinator also advised the Exco members to discharged their duties truthfully without fear.

“You need to take FCT SWAN to the next level. You are today the executives and others also contested against you. You are one family. So, carry everybody along,” Attah said.

“This is where I challenge the new Exco that SWAN FCT chapter I know have been very vibrant and they need to do more.

“As leaders, you need to bring everybody together as one family to always discharge their duty without fear or prejudice.

“The chairman in particular, I know him very well. He is the chairman today, he is someone who is forthright.

“Remi, I know her very well. We used to call her female coach of the Super Eagles. She was always be there for us. She was always supporting us.

“Chris, Maxwell, Niyi, Yinka, I know all of you very well. So, I can see a wonderful team that has been assembled. Which is really deserving. A young vibrant team. And we can call it the new generation,” he noted.

The former chairman of FCT Football Association, who lost Flight Lieutenant Alfred Ayodeji Olufade, his son-in-law in the ill-fated plane that crashed and killed all 11 on board in May including the Chief of Army Staff, Late General Ibrahim Attahiru, thanked the SWAN Exco for remembering him during this trying times.

“I also want to thank you for this condolence visit. I am humbled with this visit. I can’t believe that SWAN still remember me. I am so grateful.

“It’s painful when you look at the circumstances but then who are we to question God?

Those on the entourage of the SWAN FCT chapter ExCo are: Bunmi Haruna, chairman; Maxwell Lawrence, Vice Chairman: Chris Onokpegu, secretary,: Remi Sulola, Assistant Secretary: Omo Unubun, Financial Secretary: and other members of the association, Elebute Olayinka: Niyi Busari, and Sunny Ejembi.

AFN Board Dissolved



The board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria has been dissolved upon the expiration of its term.                                

Announcing the dissolution on Monday 14th June by the Sports Ministry of Youth and Sports saying the tenure of the board has expired.


According to the ministry statement, Pursuant to article 10.4 of the 2017 constitution of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, the Ministry hereby dissolves the board of the AFN.

the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development understand that the AFN will hold an elective congress on Monday June 14.                                    

“We have advised that the elections should be organized in accordance with the 2017 constitution of the AFN as contained in the agreement reached at the reconciliation meeting held in Abuja last April and brokered by the Confederation of African Athletics and World Athletics,’ the Ministry further said in the statement and enjoined delegates at Monday’s Elective Congress to eschew bitterness and vote for candidates that can unite the federation.                        

The AFN had at its extraordinary congress on Sunday June 13, 2021 held in Abuja asked the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development to invoke article 10.4 of its constitution and dissolve the outgoing board.
